LEAKED JUSTICE MEMO EXPLODES
NRA Cites Memo in Opposition to Gun Control
By Harold Hutchison
A nine-page memo from the Justice Department that was obtained by the National Rifle Association contains startling admissions about the effectiveness of measures proposed by Obama in response to the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The memo states that for any of Obama’s proposed restrictions to have an effect, there would need to be additional measures passed. For instance, any ban on so-called “assault weapons” or “large-capacity magazines” would need to be coupled with a mandatory buyback.
"Since assault weapons are not a major contributor to U.S. gun homicide and the existing stock of guns is large, an assault weapons ban is unlikely to have an impact on gun violence. If coupled with a gun buyback and no exemptions then it could be effective," the memo by Dr. Greg Ridgeway, the Deputy Director of the National Institute of Justice, said.
NRA released an ad the evening of the State of the Union, citing the memo, and kept up tis offensive. "It was only a few weeks ago when they were marketing their anti-gun agenda as a way of protecting school children from harm… That charade ended at the State of the Union, when the president himself exposed their fraudulent intentions. It's not about keeping kids safe at school. That wasn't even mentioned in the president's speech,” NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said at a speech to the National Wild Turkey Federation.
