ISIS BRUTES BEHEAD AMERICAN JOURNALIST
A freelance journalist taken captive by the Islamic State terrorist group has reportedly been executed by the group. James Wright Foley was kidnapped in 2012.
According to media reports, the Islamic State, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), beheaded Foley in response to the American air campaign in Iraq to protect the Yazidi, a religious minority, and to help Kurdish and Iraqi forces retake the Mosul Dam.
The terrorist group has a second American journalist, Steven Joel Soltoff, as well. Soltoff has, in the past, worked with Time magazine and The National Interest, a quarterly magazine founded by Irving Kristol in 1985. The group threated Soltoff in the video showing Foley’s apparent execution.
The Islamic State has been accused of carrying out a number of atrocities, including burying hundreds of Yazidi alive. The group has ordered non-Muslims to convert to Islam or die.
