ISAF KILLS SENIOR TALIBAN LEADER

“Jamal” Killed in Baghlan Province

ISAF confirmed that a senior Taliban leader who also had ties with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan was killed during an operation in Baghlan province. Jamal, also known as Mullah Zabiullah, was involved in attacks on civilians in Baghlan and Takhar provinces. Three other insurgents were killed in the operation.

ISAF also confirmed another senior leader, Mohammad Issa, also known as Emirati, was killed in Nuristan province. Emirati was in charge of training Taliban fighters and leaders responsible for attacks against Afghan and ISAF forces.

ISAF’s Regional Command East confirmed that forces under its command captured two insurgents and disarmed nine IEDs. This brings their total over the last week to 24 insurgents killed, 14 captured, discovered four weapons caches, and disarmed 28 IEDs.
