ISAF Joint Command morning operational update
The Afghan special operations unit, supported by coalition troops, arrested a Haqqani explosives expert in Khost district, Khost province, today.
The explosives expert conducted improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout the province. He also trained insurgents how to make and use IEDs. At the time of his arrest, the Haqqani explosives expert was in the process of building several IEDs.
During the operation, the security force also detained multiple suspected insurgents.

Today, in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province, an Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban weapons dealer and detained several suspected insurgents. The weapons dealer distributed illegal weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles, to insurgents throughout northern Kandahar.
An Afghan-led security force, supported by coalition troops, conducted an operation to arrest a Taliban explosives specialist in Kandahar district, Kandahar province, today. The Taliban specialist plans and directs improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition troops throughout the province. The security force detained several suspected insurgents during the operation.
East
In Sabari district, Khost province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to arrest a Haqqani leader, today. The leader is responsible for planning several of the insurgent attacks insurgents have conducted against coalition and Afghan forces in recent weeks. He also provides support to the Haqqani district leader. During the operation, the security force detained one suspected insurgent and seized several grenades.
