ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update

A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a suspected Haqqani leader responsible for the facilitation of personnel, roadside bombs and rocket attacks against Afghan forces during an operation in Terayzai district, Khost province, yesterday.

Intelligence reports led the security force to a potential vehicle bomb during the operation, where they disabled a vehicle being prepared for a possible bomb attack. Three suspected insurgents were also detained during the operation.

South

In Tarnek Wa Jaldek district, Zabul province, yesterday, a combined Afghan and coalition security force called for a precision air strike resulting in one Taliban leader killed. The Taliban leader is responsible for the transport of rockets and weapons between Tarnek Wa Jaldak district and Daman district, Kandahar province. The security force called for the air strike after ensuring no civilians were in the area.

The security force conducted a follow-on assessment of the area after the strike and it was determined that no civilians were harmed during the strike.

East

A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple suspected insurgents during an operation in search of a Haqqani network leader In the Terayzai district, Khost province, yesterday. The leader is suspected of involvement in the facilitation of personnel, roadside bombs and rockets used in attacks against Afghan forces.

Lastly, in Behsud district, Nangarhar province, yesterday, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained eight suspected insurgents during an operation in search of a Taliban facilitator. The facilitator is suspected of supplying explosives to insurgents for roadside bombs in the area.
