ISAF Joint Command evening operational update
An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to arrest an Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan senior leader in Chahar Darah district, Kunduz province, July 23.
The IMU senior leader is responsible for planning and directing attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout the province.
During the operation, a group of insurgents attacked the security force. The security force engaged the insurgents and killed two of them.
The security force also detained numerous suspected insurgents and seized multiple weapons as a result of this operation.

An Afghan National Army soldier turned his weapon against International Security Assistance Force service members in northern Afghanistan today. ISAF troops returned fire killing the shooter. There were no ISAF fatalities. Afghan and coalition officials are investigating the incident.
East
An Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent during a search for a Taliban attack planner in Gelan district, Ghazni province, today. The insurgent planner is responsible coordinating the efforts of insurgents throughout the district in order to facilitate attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
