17 Cleared in Two Days
By Harold Hutchison
ISAF forces operating in eastern Afghanistan have cleared 17 IEDs in the last two days. This comes as the spring fighting season nears.
According to releases from ISAF Regional Command East, ten IEDs were cleared on 17 March, and seven more the next day. ISAF Regional Command East also confirmed the discovery of two weapons caches and detaining one insurgent.
IEDs have been the weapon of choice for insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq. This past July, “sticky bombs” began to turn up in Afghanistan after having been used against American forces in Iraq.
