Hispanic Converts to Islam Being Recruited
By Harold Hutchison

Iran is recruiting Hispanic converts to Islam across Latin America to serve as a means to harm American interests. This appears to be a new wrinkle on traditional Iranian outreach to Shia Muslims in places like Argentina.

According to a report by TheBlaze.com, the Iranian outreach to Hispanics is intended to give them sympathizers who would be more able to blend in with Mexican or other Latin American immigrants. “Latin America is a long-term goal for them with direct national security implications for the U.S., and I do think it’s of special interest to the U.S.,” Ayelet Sayvon of the Middle East Media Research Project, told the online news site.

Members of Hezbollah have used the U.S.-Mexico border to illegally enter the United States. In one case, Salim Boughader Mucharrafille was arrested for smuggling 200 people from Mexico into the United States. In another case, the brother of a Hezbollah chief was arrested and convicted of providing material support to terrorism. He had settled in Dearborn, Michigan after being smuggled across the U.S.–Mexico border.
