Insurgent commander arrested in Helmand

An insurgent commander was arrested in Helmand, Monday, May 21, according to the Helmand Governor’s Media Center.

The insurgent commander named Mohammad Jan was arrested as a result of an Afghan National Army special operation in the Sangin district of Helmand, Monday evening.

When captured he was in found to be in possession of 57 kilos of heroin, 75 kilos of Cannabis, 30 kilos of poppy plants, eight boxes of rounds, one machine gun, one rifle, sixty machine gun magazines, a pair of binoculars, one pistol with a hundred rounds, two satellite mobile phones and ancillaries.

No shots were fire during the operation and the insurgent commander is now under arrest with local authorities.
