The Senate’s “Gang of Eight” introduced their immigration reform bill – which weighed in at 844 pages – three weeks ago. Six days ago, a substitute was introduced, and it came in even longer, totaling 867 pages. But what is in the bill may surprise a lot of people.

FIVE KILLED IN BORDER CHASE

17 Injured When Van Crashes

Five people were killed when a van carrying 22 people crashed, ending a vehicle chase being carried out by United States Customs and Border Patrol. The crash occurred in Arizona, a state where illegal immigration has become a controversial issue.

In addition to the fatalities, the other 17 people were injured when the van rolled over. Of the five people killed, one was from Mexico, four were from Guatemala. One of those killed was a young boy. Seven of the injured were transported via helicopter.

D.A. May Have Been Killed by Mexican Cartels

A Texas prosecutor who was gunned down at home with his wife may have been the intended target of the attack, the mayor of Forney, Texas, said. Mike McLelland was found Saturday.

Darren Rovell told the Associated Press that the attack is seen as a double-shock to the community, which was reeling from the 31 January death of Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse.

Illegal Immigrants Set Loose Due to Sequester

Illegal immigrants were turned loose by the Obama Administration ahead of the looming sequester.

"Over the last week, ICE has reviewed several hundred cases and placed these individuals on methods of supervision less costly than detention,” ICE spokesperson Gillian Christensen said. “All of these individuals remain in removal proceedings. Priority for detention remains on serious criminal offenders and other individuals who pose a significant threat to public safety.”
