Sarwar Khan Taken Out by ISAF

A Haqqani Network leader was taken out during an operation in Paktiya province by ISAF forces. Sarwar Khan was involved in kidnapping individuals in Zurmat district, constructing improvised explosive devices and coordinating IED emplacement attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

Over the last three days, ISAF and Afghan forces also captured two insurgent leaders, and two insurgent facilitators. Among the captures was a high-profile attack facilitator with the Taj Mir Jawad insurgent group, who gathering supplies and fighters for a future high-profile attack against ISAF and Afghan forces. ISAF also captured a Taliban leader and facilitator, and a Haqqani network leader.

ISAF also reported that during operations in Afghanistan, ten insurgents were killed, with seven others wounded and ten captured. ISAF’s Regional Command East reported that forces under its command killed 17 insurgents, captured eight, discovered two weapons caches, and disarmed a dozen IEDs.
