Starting this week, debate on gun control could start in the United States Senate. With even proponents admitting that momentum has started to stall, the anti-gunners are still trying to ram through background checks that amount to registration – and which could even criminalize loaning a rifle to a friend for a hunting trip.
The debate comes as the number of Senators supporting Rand Paul’s threat to filibuster reached 13. One person not supporting the filibuster is Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who said on CBS’s Face the Nation, “The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.”
