Gun-Grab Passes Connecticut Legislature at 2:26 AM
By Harold Hutchison

Like neighboring New York, Connecticut has passed a sweeping gun-grab piece of legislation, only this time, it was rammed through in the early morning hours, while the citizens the legislators represented were asleep. The provisions had been announced less than 72 hours earlier.

Anti-gun groups like the Brady Campaign have praised the legislation, which is headed to Governor Dan Malloy for a signature. Despite the short notice, hundreds of citizens went to the capitol of Connecticut to oppose the bill, which passed by wide margins (26-10 in the state senate, 105-44 in the state house).

The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown was cited in the passage of the bill. Twenty students and six adults were killed in the 14 December shooting.
