The U.S. Navy recently sold USS Forrestal (CV 59) for scrap, netting the grand total of one cent.

The ship, which was the first super-carrier to be built in the world, displaces 59,650 tons, and could carry as many as 85 aircraft. The carrier suffered a serious fire in 1967 that killed 134 sailors.

The carrier was decommissioned on 11 September, 1993, and was stricken on that date. She was retained until her sale in 2013.
