FIVE KILLED IN BORDER CHASE
17 Injured When Van Crashes
By Harold Hutchison
Five people were killed when a van carrying 22 people crashed, ending a vehicle chase being carried out by United States Customs and Border Patrol. The crash occurred in Arizona, a state where illegal immigration has become a controversial issue.
In addition to the fatalities, the other 17 people were injured when the van rolled over. Of the five people killed, one was from Mexico, four were from Guatemala. One of those killed was a young boy. Seven of the injured were transported via helicopter.
The chase comes as the Senate has introduced an “immigration reform” bill from a bi-partisan group of Senators which would include legalization of roughly eleven million illegal immigrants.
