By SOF

The United States military faces “high risk” as a result of the failure to provide enough funding to execute the strategy to “pivot” towards Asia. RUSSIA’S GROUND-ATTACK WARBIRD

The Su-25 Frogfoot
By SOF

The Soviet Union was facing a problem in the 1970s. The United States was deploying the A-10 Thunderbolt, which was designed to carry out close-air-support missions, which could decimate the large tank formations that the Soviets were counting on to smash NATO. They needed something similar to inflict similar losses on NATO forces. Their answer was the Su-25, which they call Grach, but which may be better known as Frogfoot. If a war is in the news, more often than not, the Frogfoot is involved.

The next grueling chapter in Afghanistan has just begun

Gloomy Outlook in Afghanistan
By SOF

The American withdrawal from Afghanistan is coming in the context of an incomplete reconstruction effort and Taliban gains. The news comes as foreign policy crises are erupting across the world.

According to a report by National Review Online, John F. Sopko, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, wrote in his report, “Despite the drawdown of U.S. and Coalition forces [from Afghanistan], our mission there is far from over. With almost $18 billion appropriated but not yet spent in the pipeline, and probably another $6 to $10 billion promised annually for years to come, Afghanistan reconstruction should still be relevant to every U.S. taxpayer and policy maker.”

SELOUS SCOUTS’ LAST MISSION: KILL ROBERT MUGABE
By Tim Bax

It was late 1979, and the internationally-brokered peace talks between the Rhodesian government and the two leading terrorist factions, Joshua Nkomo’s Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA) and Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army (ZANLA), were well under way. It was clear that the talks would culminate in a “one man, one vote” election being held, resulting in black majority rule and the birth of a new country, Zimbabwe, rising out of the Rhodesian ashes.

How is This For a Welcome Home?

Five Most Secret Military Aircraft

Shortly after midnight on 1 May, 2011 two unusual helicopters carrying 25 U.S. Navy SEALS descended on Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan. The heavily modified Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were able to fly 200 km undetected from the Afghanistan border with neighbors reporting that they didn’t hear the helicopters until they were directly overhead. Their existence might have remained secret had one of the helicopters not crash landed on the wall of the compound. U. S. forces destroyed the crashed black Hawk with explosives, but a portion of the tail section survived. Revealing top secret stealth modifications stemming from a program that has supposedly been discontinued in 2006.

Remarks Made During NPR Interview
By SOF

The chief of the Boston Police Department wants to decide whether a law-abiding citizen can own a rifle or shotgun. Police commissioner William Evans made the comment while being interviewed on WGBH, Boston’s NPR affiliate.

A Kimber 8400 Patrol Tactical Rifle. Ownership of bolt-action rifles like this would be up to the whim of a police chief if legislation passed by the Massachusetts State House were to become law.
