Green Berets awarded Distinguished Service Cross for Valor

Two Green Berets from 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) were awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in a ceremony held at the John F. Kennedy Auditorium, June 14.

Chief Warrant Officer Jason W. Myers and Staff Sgt. Corey M. Calkins received the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor for two separate missions in Afghanistan in 2010. The Distinguished Service Cross is second only to the Medal of Honor.

President presents Medal of Honor to Vietnam hero's widow

More than 42 years after performing selfless, heroic actions in Cambodia, which resulted in his death, Spc. 4 Leslie H. Sabo Jr. was recognized at a White House ceremony when his widow accepted the Medal of Honor on his behalf.

Among those attending the May 16 ceremony in the White House's East Room were Sabo's widow Rose Mary and members his unit: Company B, 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division.
