Jihadist with Terrorist Group Claims Support From Turkey
By SOF

Is the government of Turkey supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria? That is the claim being made by at least one jihadist.

According to a report by Breitbart News, the unidentified jihadist said in a video, “Turkey paved the way for us. Had Turkey not shown such understanding for us, the Islamic State would not be in its current place. It [Turkey] showed us affection. Large [numbers] of our mujahedeen received medical treatment in Turkey.”

Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recip Erdogan, has been sympathetic towards groups like the Moslom Brotherhood. Erdogan has also been very vocal in his opposition to the regime of Syrian president Bashir al-Assad.

ISIS, which has had ties to al-Qaeda in the past, has taken control of large areas of Syria and Iraq in recent months. Breitbart News reported that the group has invited Turkish businesses to return to Iraq.
