ENERGY DEPARTMENT DISCRIMINATED AGAINST VETS
Bonneville Power Administration Retaliated Against Complainers
By Harold Hutchison
An agency of the Department of Energy’s hiring policies placed military veterans at a disadvantage in terms of being hired, an Inspector General’s report revealed. Worse, employees who spoke out about the practices were targeted for retaliation.
Normal hiring practices give veterans a hiring preference in other federal government agencies. According to a report by the Washington Free Beacon, Bonneville’s Human Capital Management office then proceeded to try to silence critics. The IG report said that the HCM office “apparently proposed or recently executed a number of personnel actions against certain employees who have cooperated with our review.”
Numerous other whistleblowers in the Obama Administration have been targeted – and have suffered retaliation – for cooperating with Congressional investigations.
