EGYPTIAN GENERAL ASSASSINATED
Killing Comes as Morsi Trial Starts
By Harold Hutchison
An Egyptian general was killed as the trial of Mohammed Morsi began in Egypt. The former president of the county is facing charges connected to a prison break in 2011.
According to a report by VOA, Morsi, who was removed last summer, was defiant during the trial, and is being kept in a sound-proof cage during the proceedings. Morsi faces three other trials facing charges that include conspiring with Hamas to carry out terrorist attacks and inciting violence against protestors opposed to his regime.
As the trial began, an Egyptian general, General Mohamed Sa'eed, was killed by assassins as he left his Cairo home. The Egyptian military announced it was blessing a presidential run by Abdel Fatteh el-Sissi, who is currently the Defense Minister.
