EGYPTIAN FIGHTER SALE DELAYED
Obama Administration Halts F-16 Delivery

The Obama Administration is delaying the delivery of F-16C Fighting Falcons to Egypt as violence in that country continues in the wake of Mohammed Morsi’s removal from power. However, a major exercise may proceed as scheduled.
The four fighters were part of a previous sale to Egypt, which receives about $1.3 billion in aid from the United States annually. There is still a debate as to whether the removal of Morsi three weeks ago was technically a coup.
"We remain committed to the U.S.-Egypt defense relationship as it remains a foundation of our broader strategic partnership with Egypt and serves as pillar for regional stability," Pentagon spokesperson George Little said.
