The Argument

"Hypocrisy cannot be forgiven, because 'repentance' for a hypocrite, is itself hypocrisy."

Hazlitt

I have scant tolerance for lickspittles and ethical cowards, uniformed or not!

It seems our current senior military "leadership" has become so enamored of their positions, that they have forgotten their oath to defend our Constitution, not just to make sure their leftist commissars are protected from the embarrassment that always attaches when they are challenged by reality!

FARNAM ON FORT HOOD

Of yesterday's shooting victims, all were military, and none were armed and able to defend themselves, nor each other, from a gun-wielding, murdering lunatic who apparently didn't get the memo about the Base being a "Gun-Free Zone!"

As soon as the suspect was confronted by military police, he committed suicide, typical MO for active murderers.

The Fall of Rome!

"What assurance have we that our masters will, or can, keep the promise which induced us to sell ourselves? Have we discovered some new reason why, this time, power should not corrupt as it has done before?"

CS Lewis

CA Senator Diane Feinstein, a steadfast defender of the intelligence community's programs to invade our privacy, read our mail, track our phone calls, etc, is now curiously turning on her erstwhile allies in the CIA. Apparently she was all for them spying on us, the unwashed, but is shocked to discover that they were also spying on her!

Typical liberal hypocrite!

The Essence of War

Follow-up on war-winning rifles:

To quote Hitler:

"When you win, you need not explain. When you lose, you will not be there to explain!"

I might add: ... nor would anyone care, even if you were!

Some of what follows is controversial, but this issue needs to see the light of day, while it still matters. Many of my colleagues have enthusiastically commented, so I'm going to amalgamate their comments into one Quip:
To reiterate: the purpose of a battle rifle is to win wars.

Historical Perspective on Crimea

"A people that values its privileges above its principles, soon loses both!"
Eisenhower

We have to go all the way back to Nikita Khrushchev to find a Russian leader as tough as Vlad P! On this side, we have no one on-par, nor on the horizon (either side of the aisle), nor in the UK, nor among any of our NATO allies.

7.62x39 shortage

With the ongoing situation in Ukraine, Vlad P has decided to halt exports of Russian-made small-arms ammunition to the USA.

Most domestic ammunition shortages associated fears over gun-control legislation had been alleviated over the past few months. But, now this new development is currently generating fresh shortages, mostly of 7.62x39.

AK owners who do not currently have an adequate supply of 7.62x39 will have great difficulty finding it now, as domestic production can't come close to keeping-up with demand!

DUMP THE BOLT-ACTION

M110 SASS

The Military Needs to go All-Semi-Auto
By Harold Hutchison

MAKING SNIPERS DEADLIER
Snipers have played a huge role in the war on terror, and some have racked up some eye-popping totals in terms of kills. But in the War on Terror, especially early on, our snipers have been hobbled by the fact that they are limited to the M40 and M24 sniper rifles.

Winning Wars!

"To Win a War"

During the earlier part of the last century, individual military equipment, particularly rifles, light machineguns, bayonets, et al were designed with one goal in mind:

To win wars- decisively, and permanently!

Infantrymen, right down to the squad-level, were trained to, and expected to, have the ability and will, using fire and maneuver, to seize objectives by force, killing most of the enemy, and driving off the rest, all with only their own, indigenous resources. "Take the high ground, and hold it! That's the job of the Infantry" We sang that during training!

There is no "safety!"

The "Liberal Agenda"

A local doctor, a self-professed liberal Democrat, was recently discovered with collection of pilfered signs, stolen from the yards of citizens. All the signs in question expressed opposition to NY's anti-gun "Safe Act."

The doctor was charged with theft, but expressed not the slightest contrition, indicating that all who disagreed with her liberal views are sub-human and have no First Amendment Rights, indeed no rights at all!

COMMENTS ON THE M4 AND WANAT

Allen West, Barrett Tillman Speak Out!
By Harold Hutchison

In the wake of covering the controversy surrounding the performance of the Army’s M4 carbine, SOF has received comments from LTC Allen West, United States Army (Ret.), who also served n the House of Representatives, and author Barrett Tillman.

From LTC Allen West:

DID FAULTY RIFLES CAUSE CASUALTIES AT WANAT?

Bloody Engagement Caught Up in M4 Controversy
By Harold Hutchison

The Battle of Wanat was one of the deadliest fights that American troops were involved in during Operation Enduring Freedom. Nine Americans died in the battle, fought on 13 July, 2008, when as many as 500 Taliban attacked an American base defended by 2nd Platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team in Nuristan Province.

Did Army Know About M4 Carbine Flaws?
By Harold Hutchison

Could flaws in the M4 carbine have been corrected before American troops went into battle during the War on Terror? One retired general is claiming that the M4 is “virtually useless.”

The Winds!

"... the winds that will blow then!"

Even as a non-lawyer, it disturbers me when our Chief Executive regularly displays disdainful contempt for laws duly passed by his own Congress, according to the provisions of our Constitution, which they all took an oath to, and piously profess to "uphold and defend." He apparently arrogantly thinks laws can be nonchalantly violated by him, with nary a whimper from that same Congress, from either party, nor from the Courts, and always to the cynical cheers of the leftist media/propaganda machine, masquerading as "journalists."

PRECISION REFLEX 6.8x43mm SPR CARBINE

From the May, 2008 issue of SOF! Gary Paul Johnston reviews a SPR Carbine in 6.8x43mm!

Double-Standard!

Our Country! This, from a friend who is here as a resident alien:

"I've lived in your country for a number of years, and I love it as much as my own. Why any reasonable person could even imagine that I would be somehow 'offended' by Americans celebrating their own history and culture is far beyond my ability to understand. Sounds as if the only ones that school administrator cares about are illegal immigrants!
