Russians Claim Items Seized From US Diplomat

Russia has released a list of items that they claim were part of a spy kit seized from an American diplomat who was detained in Moscow, and who is being declared persona non grata. A second American diplomat is also being booted.

Among the items:
A map of Moscow; a pair of wigs; a cellphone; alkaline batteries, a compass, a flashlight, and a pepper gas canister.

Were these items part of a spy kit, or are the Russians now trying to gin up the evidence as they kick American diplomats out?

The growing scandal surrounding IRS harassment of Tea Party groups took new turns as it was revealed that some Democratic Senators who denounced the scandal had requested IRS reviews earlier, including Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucas (D-MT). Baucas’s Committee is one of those that has oversight over the IRS.

The Internal Revenue Service admitted over the weekend that a number of conservative groups, including Tea Party organizations, groups that support Israel, and even some 9/12 Projects. The IRS admission came on the heels as the Obama Administration reeled after testimony from whistleblowers released huge bombshells.

ChiCom Ships Probe Area

Chinese Communist ships again sailed near the Senkaku Islands, which are the subject of a maritime territorial dispute between Japan and the ChiComs. The ChiCom probe occurred as Japanese citizens were in the area to survey the islands.

The ChiCom group of ships was the largest since tensions increased in September, 2012. Three ships in the area were quickly joined by five more.

Former British Prime Minister Dies

Margaret Thatcher, the British Prime Minister whose resolve not only liberated the Falkland Islands in 1982, but also helped take down the Soviet Union, died today in London. The former prime minister was 87.

“Dirty War” Past of Argentina Also Stirred Up

Pope Francis I, elected earlier this week, is seen by some as one of the more liberal cardinals on some matters. According to a report by Newsmax.com, the new pope has expressed support for what is known as liberation theology.

The report, though, is disputed by Accuracy in Media, which in a report quoted a “Catholic insider” as saying, “Looks like we might have ourselves a relatively conservative new pope. He appears to be opposed to liberation theology and doesn’t approach ‘social justice’ from the political end.”

Cops Shoot Suspect – 46 Rioters Arrested

Riots broke out in Brooklyn after NYPD officers shot and killed a 16-year-old who allegedly pointed a gun at them. A loaded .38-caliber revolver was recovered at the scene of the shooting. The shooting is currently under investigation.

During what were described by the New York Daily News as “furious clashes with police,” 46 people were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. At least one police officer was wounded when he was struck by a thrown brick.
