Developed with lessons from the Vietnam War in mind, the F-15 Eagle was meant to take control of the skies. Since its introduction in 1976, it has done so, going undefeated in air-to-air combat.

During the Vietnam War, the inadequacy of America’s combat aircraft in the dogfight was brutally exposed – as North Vietnamese MiG-17 “Farmer” and MiG-21 “Fishbed” fighters were using ambush tactics on F-105 Thunderchief and F-4 Phantom fighters. For too many American pilots, these failures, combined with restrictive rules of engagement, meant either a stay in the Hanoi Hilton or death.

Swedish helicopters, ships and troops search for for 'crippled Russian submarine' Mayday distress signal was intercepted off the coast of Sweden in the Baltic Sea.

Signals pointed to a stranded submarine, believed to be on a secret mission in the waters off Stockholm and another off Russia's the Kaliningrad port, a Russian enclave bordered by Poland and Lithuania and facing out to Sweden.
