British police say they have arrested a 19-year-old man believed to be responsible for cyber attacks against major businesses and intelligence agencies.

Working with the FBI, police arrested the teen Monday night in Wickford, a town east of London. Investigators were examining material collected from a home there.

Police say the arrest was made in connection with a number of cyber attacks led by a single hacking group.

Two of the most active digital hacking collectives are Anonymous and Lulz Security. Lulz has attacked websites and stolen private data such as passwords and logins.

Lulz recently claimed it was behind the attacks that penetrated the website of Britain's Serious Organised Crime Agency. Lulz also is believed to have attacked websites of the CIA, Sony Corporation and the U.S. Senate.

The teen is being held and questioned at a London police station on allegations of computer misuse.

Lulz on its Twitter feed Tuesday dismissed the importance of the arrest, saying “we're all still here.”
