43 Senators Vote for Grassley Amendment
By Harold Hutchison

A border-security amendment by Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) was defeated by the Senate. A total of 57 Senators voted for a motion to table his amendment, which would have required that the White House would certify “effective control” over the southwestern border before any of the 11 million illegal immigrants could be legalized.

The 57 votes to table (effectively killing) the Grassley amendment included 50 Democrats, 5 Republicans and 2 independents. The “No” votes were from two Democrats and 41 Republicans – and 41 Republicans would be enough to sustain a filibuster.

Contact your senators to urge them to support real border security, and to filibuster the “Gang of Eight” bill if it does not have real border security provisions.
