BORDER AGENT KILLED BY ILLEGALS who had been repeated deported

One Suspect Deported Four Times Prior to Robbery, Murder

Two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of an off-duty Border Patrol agent who was killed in front of his family during a robbery were in the United States illegally. Vega’s father was wounded in the attack.

Javier Vega Jr. was killed Sunday in front of his wife, kids, and parents. The two suspects were quickly taken into custody by authorities in Willacy County, Texas. The were arraigned on charges of capital murder, attempted murder, aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence.

One of the illegals, reported to be 30-year-old Gustavo Tijerina, had been arrested and deported at least four times between 2007 and 2010. In 2010, Tijerina had faced charges that could have imprisoned him for twenty years, but was only given nine months. The other suspect, Ismael Hernandez, 40, had been arrested and deported twice.
