MORE FROM SPRINGFIELD’S XD PISTOL

Springfield XDM

From the April 2009 issue:
Gary Paul Johnston helps put Springfield's XDM pistol through its paces. Anyone familiar with the XD could simply pick up the new version and use it, as if they’d been carrying it all their life, but they might just be yelling, “WOW!”

SOG'S DEADLIEST TARGET

From the February 2008 issue of SOF:
When the Studies and Observation Group sent RT Lion to look into a highway junction known as "Oscar 8", they knew they were going after a deadly target.

They just had no idea how deadly it was.

RKB WARNS OF TERROR THREAT

SOF Founder Believes War on Terror Spreading

By Harold Hutchison

Barack Obama is ignoring a growing terror threat, Robert K. Brown says, and is not doing enough to handle it. The comments came in an interview with Newsmax TV.

PROLOGUE OF SOF FOUNDER ROBERT BROWN'S MEMOIRS!

Most of the artillery explosions and white-hot arcs of large-caliber tracer bullets were a few kilometers behind us on the Sarajevo skyline. We had been cramped in the truck bed for hours that seemed like days, stuck in the suburbs of the city. We were miserably bound
in flak jackets, in a sandbagged truck bed and were numb to the much closer AK-47 fire.

WHERE ARE THE LIMITS?

UAV Strikes Raise Serious Questions
By Harold Hutchison

PREDATORS AND REAPERS
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones have played a big role in the Global War on Terror. Since 11 September, 2001, they have become an almost indispensable tool in America’s counter-terrorism arsenal. But there have been major questions surrounding them. Where are the limits?

AFGHANISTAN: FIGHTING RIGHT: WHAT WENT RIGHT? WHAT WENT WRONG?

Fighting Right: What is working and what is not in Afghanistan
By Greger Stellan

Afghanistan is also far more complex than Iraq in terms of the kaleidoscope of ethno-linguistic groups, tribal dynamics, and difficult terrain. It’s a guerrilla war where the enemy is now using primarily terrorist tactics to fight us. This requires a long-term approach that could take decades to get to the point where we are not needed there.

One Dead Monster, Another Rears His Ugly Head

JUSTICE IN ABBOTTABAD

DARING MAY DAY RAID
On 1 May, 2011, four helicopters carried members of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU), formerly known as SEAL Team Six, on perhaps the biggest mission of the War on Terror. Their target: Usama bin Laden, the founder and leader of al-Qaeda, the man responsible for the attacks on the United States of 11 September, 2001. Backing them up were three aircraft carriers and other forces, ready to act if Pakistan tried to interfere with the operation.
