House Report Slams Former Secretary of State
By Harold Hutchison

An interim report from five committees of the House of Representatives blasted former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for failures leading to the 11 September, 2012 attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed in the attack.

The House Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform, and Intelligence committees were involved in the report. Among the failures cited were the fact that United States Africa Command had no units assigned to it, necessitating the deployment of a reaction team from Europe.

The report also cited cuts in security made by the State Department. The report also went into the alteration of “talking points” used by UN Ambassador Susan Rice. Controversy over those talking points, which falsely blamed an internet video for the attack, removed Rise from the running as Secretary of State.

The 43-page report is the latest broadside. Groups like Special Operations Speaks have called for a select committee to investigate the attack and the Obama Administration’s conduct, and a resolution for a select committee introduced by Representative Frank Wolf (R-VA) has over 100 cosponsors.
