US Navy P-3C, USAF A-10 and USS Barry Engage Libyan Vessels

A U.S. Navy P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft and guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG-52), engaged Libyan Coast Guard vessel Vittoria and two smaller crafts March 28.

All-American Pilot receives DFC

The All-American Commander presented the Distinguished Flying Cross to Chief Warrant Officer Carlos M. Roman, at Simmons Army Airfield, Mar. 14, for his actions while serving in Afghanistan with the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade.

Soldiers, Family members and friends gathered to honor Roman, an AH-64D Apache helicopter pilot who now serves with the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, as Maj. Gen. James L. Huggins, the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division, pinned his award.

Special Forces Soldier receives posthumous Medal of Honor

WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Oct. 6, 2010) - The president will bestow the Medal of Honor this afternoon upon the family of Staff Sgt. Robert J. Miller, whose actions allowed seven of his Special Forces teammates and 15 Afghan soldiers to escape an ambush kill zone.

What is it?

The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest medal for valor in combat that can be awarded to members of the armed forces. Since the medal's creation in 1862, there have been more than 3,400 recipients; more than 2,000 of those were Soldiers.
