Haqqani Network leaders killed during overnight operation in Paktiya

An Afghan and coalition security force killed Zubair, a Haqqani Network facilitator responsible for the movement of weapons and improvised explosive device materials for distribution to foreign fighters and Haqqani networks in the area, during an overnight operation in Paktiya province Saturday.

Additionally, Shabudin and Ibrahim, both Haqqani Network senior leaders in the area, were also among those killed during the operation.

The sun hasn't risen yet as an Explosive Detector Dog (EDD) team of American K-9 Detection Services (AMK9) prepares to lead a dismounted patrol through Panjwai'i District in Kandahar province Oct. 8. The partnered dismounted patrol leaving Combat Outpost Nejat consists of Afghan National Army soldiers, Afghan National Police and Canadian forces of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group.

Insurgent network disrupted, more than 20 killed in Kandahar

An Afghan-led operation in the Arghistan District of Kandahar province, Oct. 28, was able to disrupt an insurgent network known to facilitate attacks on Afghan and coalition forces in the province.

The operation resulted in 24 enemy killed-in-action and was led by Col. Abdul Raziq, commander of the Afghan Border Police. The ABP was partnered with a force of soldiers from Special Operations Task Force – South.

ANA soldiers train to rid Afghanistan of IEDs

In the continuing effort to rid Afghanistan of improvised explosive devices, Afghan National Army soldiers recently completed the initial portion of an IED detection course.

ANA soldiers enrolled in the Explosive Hazard Reduction Course finished the three-day, basic search segment of the class at the Joint Security Academy Southwest at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, Oct. 29.

TIKRIT AIR BASE, Iraq (AFNS) -- For the past six months, Iraqi Training and Advisory Mission-Air Force air advisers with the 52nd Expeditionary Flying Training Squadron have been training Iraqi pilots to become T-6 Texan II instructor pilots to rebuild the Iraqi air force.

Afghan, coalition forces find several weapons caches in Kandahar

Afghan and coalition forces found several caches in Kandahar province Thursday, including three in the Zharay District.

In Zharay a local Afghan brought six 155mm empty shell casings to an International Security Assistance Force compound and told coalition forces the location of additional weapons.

Afghan and coalition forces went to the location and recovered three improvised explosive devices, one grenade, hundreds of 7.62mm rounds, two mortar rounds and one voltage meter. The cache was brought back to the ISAF compound for destruction.

Coalition forces target Haqqani senior leader with precision air strike

Coalition forces conducted a precision air strike in Khost province Thursday targeting a Haqqani Network senior leader who directs attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and facilitation of weapons, and reports directly to Haqqani Network senior leadership.

The targeted individual also established enemy positions in order to target coalition aircraft.
