Numerous insurgents killed during joint operation

An Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Force patrol killed numerous insurgents while attempting to detain a senior Taliban leader in Kajaki district, Helmand province, Thursday, Oct. 28.

The target is a senior Taliban leader in the Kajaki district who has actively planned, coordinated and executed improvised explosive device attacks against ANSF and ISAF. He now directs attacks and facilitates financial support to several Taliban groups in Helmand province.

Insurgent killed in Kandahar precision air strike

An International Security Assistance Force air asset killed an insurgent in support of a joint operation in Shah Wali Kot District, Kandahar province, Thursday.

Air assets tracked two insurgents armed with rocket-propelled grenade launchers and automatic weapons moving in the area on a motorcycle. They fired one Hellfire missile, killing one and injuring the other.

The injured insurgent was evacuated by an accomplice on a motorcycle before coalition forces could move to his location.

Initial reports indicate no civilians were injured in this operation.

Fifth Haqqani Network leader confirmed killed during Paktiya operation

The International Security Assistance Force confirmed another Haqqani Network senior leader, Hibati, was killed during an overnight operation in Paktiya province Saturday.

Former ISAF releases confirmed Zubair and Qari Amil, both Haqqani Network facilitators responsible for the movement of weapons and improvised explosive device materials, along with Shabudin and Ibrahim, both Haqqani Network senior leaders in the area, were also killed during the operation. Hibati was Zubair’s deputy, who was the targeted individual in the operation.

Weapons cache found, destroyed

An Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Force patrol found a weapons cache during a dismounted patrol in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province, Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The joint security patrol, while conducting a presence patrol, came under rocket fire by insurgents occupying a firing position on nearby high ground. The joint security patrol returned fire using air and ground assets. After the firing stopped, the joint security force moved to, and occupied the deserted insurgent firing positions.

Several insurgents killed during joint patrol

An Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Force patrol killed several insurgents and detained several others during an operation to detain a Taliban leader in Nad ‘Ali District, Helmand province, Tuesday.

Multiple intelligence reports and tips from local citizens led the joint security force to the suspected Taliban leader’s compound. The Taliban leader is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of numerous small arms and improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

ISAF confirms death of Haqqani senior leader last week

The International Security Assistance Force confirmed a precision air strike in Khost province Thursday killed Qari Naseb Khan, a Haqqani Network senior leader who directed attacks against Afghan and coalition forces, facilitated weapons, and reported directly to Haqqani Network senior leadership.

He had also established enemy positions in order to target coalition aircraft.

Afghan, coalition force targets Taliban district leader in Helmand

Afghan and coalition forces targeting the Taliban district leader for Musa Qal’ah, who also acts as an improvised explosive device expert and facilitator, detained two suspected insurgents and killed one during an overnight operation in Helmand province.

The targeted individual leads his own personal network of IED experts, supplying Taliban senior leaders in the area with lethal IED technology and training.
