TWO INSURGENT LEADERS CAPTURED

RC-East Forces Whack Insurgents

Forces under the command of ISAF captured two insurgent leaders during operations in Afghanistan over the weekend. The captures come in the wake of a 17 May insurgent attack that killed or wounded dozens of Afghan civilians.

Two Days of Ops Rack Up The Body Count

Forces under the command of ISAF’s Regional Command East killed 35 insurgents over the last two days. Thirteen of the insurgents were killed during a single firefight in Nangarhar province. RC-East forces also captured twelve insurgents, disarmed thirteen improvised explosive devices, and discovered a weapons cache.

ISAF Wounds Second Taliban Leader

The International Security Assistance Force confirmed that Jalal, a mid-level Taliban leader, was killed during an operation in Kunduz province. Jalal was involved in improvised explosive device, rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

Three Busy Days for ISAF

Forces under the command of ISAF captured six insurgent leaders over the last three days. The leaders captured were involved with the Taliban, Haqqani Network, and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. ISAF also confirmed that Wahidullah Khan, a Taliban leader in Kandahar province, was killed during operations over the weekend.

Prayer in Arabic Hides Insult

A Muslim cleric invited to preside over a funeral for fallen members of the elite unit popularly called SEAL Team Six is alleged to have insulted the fallen SEALs during the service.

According to multiple reports, at the service held in Kabul, Afghanistan, the cleric denigrated the SEALs as “infidels who are fodder for the hell fire” while speaking in Arabic. The cleric’s comments came to light in a press conference held by the families of three of the fallen SEALs, who were represented by Larry Klayman.

INSURGENT LEADER KILLED IN BAGHLAN

Khialuddin Lead Taliban, IMU Insurgents

ISAF confirmed that Khialuddin, an insurgent leader who had ties to the Taliban and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, was killed during operations in Afghanistan earlier this week. ISAF also confirmed the capture of three Taliban leaders and an insurgent facilitator.

Two of the Taliban leaders were captured in Helmand province, and the third Taliban leader was nabbed in Kandahar. The Haqqani Network facilitator was captured in Logar province. The Taliban leaders had all been involved in carrying out attacks.

House Oversight Committee Holds Benghazi Hearing

The House Oversight Committee is holding a hearing today on the 11 September, 2012 attack on the United States consulate that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

The hearing is currently airing on CSPAN 3, and is also streaming at oversight.house.gov.

BOMBSHELL EXPLODES PRIOR TO BENGHAZI HEARINGS

Former SecState Clinton Accused of End Run

Prior to a hearing by the House Committee on Government Oversight scheduled for Wednesday, a new bombshell exploded when details of what one whistleblower from the State Department will tell the committee emerged over the weekend. Mark I. Thompson is the deputy director of the State Department’s counter-terror unit, and will claim that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tried to cut his unit out of the decision-making process.

Other Insurgents Killed During Operations

Over the last three days, ISAF confirmed that four insurgent leaders, three of whom were Taliban, were killed during operations in Afghanistan. In addition, a number of insurgent leaders and facilitators were also captured.

“Jamal” Killed in Baghlan Province

ISAF confirmed that a senior Taliban leader who also had ties with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan was killed during an operation in Baghlan province. Jamal, also known as Mullah Zabiullah, was involved in attacks on civilians in Baghlan and Takhar provinces. Three other insurgents were killed in the operation.

HAQQANI NETWORK LEADER TAKEN OUT

Sarwar Khan Taken Out by ISAF

A Haqqani Network leader was taken out during an operation in Paktiya province by ISAF forces. Sarwar Khan was involved in kidnapping individuals in Zurmat district, constructing improvised explosive devices and coordinating IED emplacement attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

DPMO Statement on Robertson/"Unclaimed"

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) reports that Sgt. 1st Class John H. Robertson, a U.S. serviceman who was lost in the Vietnam War, remains unaccounted for. All claims and alleged live sighting reports related to Robertson have been investigated, and found to be false.

FALLING FOR A POW HOAX?

Documentary Film To Be Shown at GI Film Festival

POW/MIA advocates believe that a film that will be shown – claiming an American missing in action from the Vietnam War is alive and well in Vietnam – has fallen for a hoax. According to the film Unclaimed, Master Sergeant John Hartley Robertson of the United States Army has been living in Vietnam for over four decades. Military records indicated that Master Sgt. Robertson was among five people killed when a CH-34 helicopter was shot down on 20 May, 1968.
