By Harold Hutchison
The Egyptian government is placing nearly two dozen journalists with the Qatar-based al-Jazeera network on trial. The network is believed to have favored former President Mohammed Morsi and the Moslem Brotherhood.
According to a report by VOA News, the Egyptian government has charged sixteen Egyptian journalists and four others from other countries on charges of either belonging to a terrorist group or for inducing terror by spreading false news. One of the journalists is from Canada, and another is from Australia.
Egypt was recently named the third most dangerous country for journalists by the Committee to Protect Journalists.
