8th Commandos, USSF kill 8 insurgents in Helmand
The Afghan 8th Commando Kandak, combat advised by U.S. Special Forces, killed eight insurgents during operations in Lad-a Juy village, Kajaki district, Helmand province, Feb. 16.
Throughout the day, enemy combatants engaged the partnered force with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire, as well as emplaced improvised explosive devices. The Afghan-led force was able to diffuse the insurgent’s sporadic attacks with a combination of small arms fire and the employment of an air weapons team to engage the insurgent fighting positions.
No civilians were injured or collateral damaged caused during this operation.
The clearing of Lad-a Juy is part of an overarching operation to deny insurgents the ability to resupply forces in the Oruzgan province.
