4 Kenyan Lawmakers Suspected of Drug Trafficking
A top security official in Kenya says four members of parliament are suspected of drug trafficking.
Internal Security Minister George Saitoti named the suspects during a parliament session on Wednesday. The suspects are lawmakers Hassan Joho, William Kabogo, Gideon Mbuvi and Harun Mwau.
The minister said police are investigating the four lawmakers as part of a drug probe that began earlier this month. He said a businessman, Ali Punjani, also is being investigated.
The investigation began after the U.S. Embassy forwarded a list of suspects to Kenya's anti-corruption agency.
Prime Minister Raila Odinga told parliament he has formed a task force to look into the issue. He added the investigation will probably take about two months.
