HE GOT THE BIGGEST ONE!!!!!!! A HUNTER’S DREAM

Long-time SOF reader and avid hunter Dwight Van Brunt took this amazing Cape buffalo last summer in Namibia. Measuring 51 3/8 inches wide and 15 inches across the boss, it easily bested the national record. Two days later, Dwight's son, Ross, took another almost as big. Although Dwight told SOF that both father and son figure to have used up their hunting luck for the rest of their lives on this trip, we didn’t buy it. We’re betting that he’s out there next year tracking down the buffalo’s bigger brother.

DPMS’ RANDY LUTH AND THE AR-15/BLACK RIFLE

OUTDOOR LIFE's online voters have chosen Randy Luth, President and Founder of DPMS Firearms LLC, as this year's OL-25 "Reader's Choice" recipient. Garnering an overwhelming 53 percent of the vote, Luth topped an impressive list of leaders, hunters, anglers, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts. Randy and Pam Luth donated $1000 to the Camp Compass Academy founded by John Annoni, an OL-25 honoree and Reader's Choice runner-up.

OUTDOOR LIFE reports that as he was accepting the award, Luth emphasized DPMS Firearm’s commitment to the AR platform. "Though it has been, and remains, a constant struggle to change the perception of the ‘black rifle,’ 21st century hunters now have an alternative to the traditional rifles they grew up with.

“Multiple, large caliber offerings, fast follow-up shots and the rugged dependability of the AR rifle make for an easy choice when heading into the field. I am proud to accept this award on behalf of every black rifle enthusiast and am humbled by the support that I received from: Michael Bane and The Shooting Gallery, Col. Robert Brown and  Soldier of Fortune, among others.”

AIMPOINT'S VP HONORED WITH A CARBINE

Vice President Brian Lisankie scored after two years at Aimpoint. Lennart Ljungfelt, who flies in from Sweden to attend the SHOT, and Brian, host a yearly Aimpoint dealer appreciation party. Attending the get together has become a tradition for RKB.

“The carbine that Brian is holding is a LaRue Tactical LT-15. It was custom made at our request to present to Brian from the employees at Aimpoint for his superb leadership over the last two years,” Lt. Col. USMC (Ret) Freddie Blish, who joined Aimpoint as Director of Military Business Development two years ago, and longtime SOF friend told us.
