The U.S. Air Force says two of its airmen were killed and another two wounded in a shooting Wednesday at Germany's Frankfurt International Airport.

UPDATE: Fox News reports that before the gunman opened fire, he shouted "Allah akbar!"

The Air Force said in a statement out of its Ramstein Air Base near Frankfurt that German authorities have the shooter in custody. Details on the two killed are being held back until their next of kin are notified.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her condolences to the victims and their families, saying the government will do everything to find out what happened.

German local officials identified the shooter as a 21-year-old from Kosovo. Police say the gunman opened fire on a bus carrying U.S. military personnel outside the airport's Terminal Two.

The U.S. military has a number of bases in Germany, including the Ramstein Air Base.
